Taming him around the first bend after he passes the elevator with yourself at the corresponding outer wall will make him path almost all the way to the elevator before he turns and routes to you. If you come down the elevator, to the right is where I staged the taming. Friender appears to be immune to crowd control the only way to tame him is to use aspect of the turtle from what I have seen. If you can solve the puzzle, feign death immediately as Friender will run around the room, scales with your level, and will kill you in one hit no matter what level you are. It is literally impossible to solve when it is like this hopefully Blizzard will fix this but until/unless they do, you will need to reset the dungeon. If you can make it so the rightmost (or leftmost) button is unlit while the rest of the buttons are lit, the 8 button puzzle is unsolvable and you need to reset the dungeon. I have yet to run into a case where the 6 or 7 button puzzles are unsolvable, however the 8 button puzzle seems to have a chance to be unsolvable.
There are, however, ways to tell when the puzzle is unsolvable. There is nothing you can do when this happens except to exit the dungeon, reset it, and try again.
